They just make you smile!

Impression of Israeli pick-up line.

ehhhhhhhhhhh, would you like to ehhhhhhhhhh play with my falafel balls?

Question asked to me while tabling.

Hey, do you still do those dinners on Friday nights?

Im not planning it, Im just laying snacks on a table.  People are studying on these days, they dont have time to come get a makeover and play twister

Were Shomer Nagila.  We dont touch each other, but we can touch you

But, you cant because I work here

I actually payed attention to the Seder because I knew the person leading it

Birthright Confession.

Jenna, I have to be honest with you, I havent stopped farting since we got here

I met a student at the freshman chill.  Him and I sat as the night was winding down and just chatted.  I introduced him to some people who I had also met that lived in a dorm near his.  He came around to Hillel often and started meeting more people.  Now he is going to help out with the FYSH program.

I met a student on birthright who was a senior.  He admitted that he really did not do the Hillel things while he was in college, and was not about to start now.  After getting to know him during the course of the 10-day trip, I suggested that he give JCSC a shot since he did not have plans for next year.  Well, he will now be part of the 2004-05 corps and I know he will be great.

While having dinner in Towers, I met a student who was roommates with a girl that I had already known.  After hanging out with them in the dining hall, I mentioned a few upcoming Hillel programs to them.  A few weeks later they showed up to Shabbat and have made regular appearances at Hillel functions.

I met a student while working on the Greek Seder who had expressed his frustrations with coming to Hillel where he expected to not know anyone.  I got to know him as he helped greatly with the planning of Greek Seder and now he is excited to be part of the Greek Jewish council and willing to plan events to the greater Greek Jewish community at UT.

When I first got to campus I met a girl who was in AEPhi.  She does not really come to Hillel for programs, but whenever she sees me on campus, she chases me down and we always talk about what is new in her life and what is going on on campus.

The Freshmen Chill was a huge success.  We took over the outside deck of Smoothie King and advertised this program heavily in the dorms.  Who could resist free smoothies?  About 100 freshmen attended.  It was a very casual atmosphere and it went on till 9:30pm!

Greek Seder was one of my favorite programs of the year.  We had 210 Greek Jewish students come together as one big Greek Jewish Family at the SAMMY house for a unique and dynamic Seder experience.

The Israeli style Disco Boat was the ultimate engagement program.  We targeted all the students who had applied for the 2004 birthright trip.  We had an Israeli style DJ and most of the 100 people who danced the night away were people that I had never seen before.

West Mall tabling is the best thing ever!  You are always bound to meet new people and see many new faces.  It is a great time to say hi to those people who you maybe just met as well as a great way to meet the friends of the people who you already know.

FYSH Bowling happened twice this past year, but next year we hope to make it a monthly event.  Every time we go bowling new people come and a good time is always had!!
